TV Recommendation

A couple of weeks ago I started watching NBC's Dracula. This show is fantastic. Some people weren't that pleased with the first episode so they gave up on it (I thought it was good though a little slow). It's too bad they stopped watching, because the show keeps getting better and better.

(Minor spoilers ahead.) The premise for the show is that Dracula is looking for revenge against a group called the Order of the Dragon. This group was responsible for turning Dracula into a vampire. They also burned his wife alive and forced him to watch. In the first episode, Dracula (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) throws a party and invites members of the Order. It's at this party that he meets Mina Murray, who is the spitting image of his dead wife. He quickly becomes obsessed with her. What's more is that she is equally drawn to him though she doesn't know why. Other things happen throughout the show, but my favorite part is the Mina/Dracula storyline. I love that take on the Dracula legend, though their relationship wasn't canon in the book.

But this show has a lot to offer. Dracula is currently sleeping with a vicious vampire huntress named Jayne. Their sex scenes are steamy (lol, the millon moms organization is trying to get the show banned because of their scenes and the show's overall violence). I can't wait to see how that relationship unfolds, especially if Jayne ever discovers the truth about Dracula. She's badass and sadistic. The TV show also gives you a glimpse of slash relationships in the Victorian era. And there's an interesting twist with Lucy, Mina's best friend (played by Katie McGrath, who was Morgana on Merlin). The music is perfectly matched for each scene, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the costumes are beautiful.

I hope you'll check it out! Dracula airs Fridays at 10 PM.
