It's getting close to that time of year again. National Novel Writing Month starts in November. If you don't know about NaNoWriMo, the goal is to write something (a story or collection of stories) that is at least 50,000 words in length within the span of a month. I was able to do it in 2010 and 2011, but I only made it to 6500 words last year and quit (too much going on at work and too little inspiration.)
But today, I came up with a story idea that I want to write. I wrote a rough outline, which consisted of 16 chapters and an additional 21 chapters of extra material if I need it. I'll have to find time over the next month to get myself organized and see what I want to use and what I don't. I'm pretty excited for this idea though. It's not like anything I've ever written. It's not a fantasy novel, which is what I always write. The biggest challenge so far is trying to figure out if it's going to be a middle grade book, YA, or adult. I guess I'll figure out the tone once I get working on it.
Anyway, if you want to be "writing buddies" for NaNo, you can find my account here: K_S_S.
