I haven't written very much this month. I had some things going on in life and didn't have a lot of opportunity to write. I really need to get my story done though, and I think I figured a way to keep motivated. As I wrote in a previous post, NaNo is starting next month. It was one of the best things I've ever done because it really kept me focused on my writing. So I think I'm going to finish my current story for NaNo.
Now, because I already have over 44,000 words written, I can't include that in my NaNo word count. It would be cheating if I did. What I'm going to do instead is start off the event with a new chapter and begin my word count from there. For example, I'll start writing chapter 10 on Novemeber 1st. My main concern is that I don't think I'll have enough material to get me to the 50,000 goal mark, so if I do finish the first story during the month, I'll start on the sequel.
NaNo isn't about writing one book to me. It's about writing mindlessly. You don't think about the edits you need to do. You don't think about the plot holes you might need to fix. You just write. And that's what I need to do to get my story back on track.
